Screw Drive Mechanism

The grating position and wavelength coming from the monochromator is controlled by a stepper motor which drives a screw which positions the grating through the Czerny Turner mount. This stepper motor also drives the wavelength readout on the front of the machine through the cogged belt drive connected directly to the screw. The drive mechanism can scan at 10, 20, 50 and 100 nm/min. The spectrophotometer can be scanned from 900 nm to 190 nm with an automatic change over for the lamps at 350 nm.
