The Optic Bench (monochromator) of the DMS-90 consists of two sections:
Within the Light Dispersion section is the entrance slit and grating, which together defines the resolution of the instrument.
The Dual Beam Section, takes this "monochromatic" light and serially in time passes the light through the sample cell and the reference cell.
Light enters the monochromator from the light source. Within the Dispersion Section, the light is dispersed and the wavelength desired is selected and passes along to the Dual Beam section. Here the light is passed either through the sample and onto the photomultiplier tube, or through the reference and onto the photomultiplier tube.
