The DMS-90 is a UV and Visible spectrophotometer. It therefore needs a light source with high intensity in both the UV range (190-350 nm) and the visible range (350-900 nMm). The DMS-90 has a deuterium lamp for the UV range and a high-intensity tunsgtun lamp for the visible range. Light emitted from either of the lamps is passed through a filter to remove high-order frequencies. This filter wheel is automatically controlled by the wavelength drive system.
