Notebook Requirements - F'07

General
    You are required to maintain a notebook in our course.  The notebook should be a standard 3-ring binder.  It should have a title page that includes
a title page (Plant Taxonomy � Biology 308 Field & Laboratory Notebook, your name, address, phone).  Following the title page, inserted in order will be the following:  Safety Contract, Plant Collection Grading Rubric, Plant Collection Grading Worksheet, Herbarium Label template, and a folded packet.  Following this introductory material you may include any other general course information.  Then you should have dividers (can be fancy or simply a blank sheet of paper with a labeled tape tab) for the following sections:  (1) Field Record Forms - this section will include all of the field records from the plants in your collection, (2) PTK & Other Quizzes (see below), (3) Assignments - this section will include assorted assignments (see listing below); (4) Keying and Lab Work; and (5) Other - in this section you may insert anything you want.

PTK & Other Quizzes Section - please include the following (in sequence):

  1. PTK quizzes (1-6)
  2. Floral Terminology Quiz
  3. Fruit Quiz
  4. Family Quizzes (Exam 1), in order of coverage in lecture (Amborellaceae, Nymphaeaceae, Magnoliaceae, Ceratophyllaceae, Liliaceae, Iridaceae, Orchidaceae, Araceae, Poaceae, Cyperaceae, Juncaceae, Typhaceae, Ranunculaceae, Papaveraceae, Euphorbiaceae,)
  5. Family Quizzes (Exam 2), in order of coverage in lecture ( Cucucurbitaceae, Fabaceae, Rosaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Onagraceae, Malvaceae, Brassicaceae, Ericaceae, Lamiaceae, Boraginaceae, Scrophulariaceae (sl); Solanaceae, Asteraceae, Apocynaceae (Asclepiadaceae), Apiaceae, Amaranthaceae, Caryophyllaceae, Polygonaceae, Cactaceae)

Assignment Section - Please include the following (in sequence):

  1. Dichotomous/Polyclave key
  2. Ergot Essay

Keying & Labwork Section - unknowns, etc from lab
