Content (20 pts. possible):

(20 points) The paper clearly specifies a sound, practical philosophy which includes an appropriate choice of model(s) and rationally justifies this choice on the basis of subject matter and grade level. Instructional, motivational, and management models and techniques are appropriate for the grade level and subject matter, described accurately and with sufficient elaboration, and are consistent with the student's overall philosophy. Sound ideas for accommodating student diversity are present. Course content is related to all aspects with clarity, accuracy, and elaboration.

(18-19 points) The philosophy may have some components that do not seem practical or appropriate, or the paper may lack the clarity and precision of a paper in the above category. An aspect of the assignment may need a little more detail, or there may be minor inconsistencies. Connections between course content and one or more aspects of the assignment may be unclear or lacking in detail.

(14-17 points) A part of the assignment may be virtually neglected; one or more aspects may need much more detail, or there may be a major inaccuracy. Multiple aspects of the philosophy may be rather inappropriate for the grade level and/or subject matter the student intends to teach. Connections between course content and some assignment aspects may be minimal or inaccurate.

(10-13 points) Multiple parts of the assignment are dealt with only minimally. Many inaccuracies may be present, or connections to class material are virtually neglected.

(9 points and below) The paper does not correspond to the assignment, contains many major inaccuracies, or neglects multiple aspects of the assignment.

The paper is generally well organized, though the writing may lack the clarity found in the above category or some awkward wording may be present. Therefore, the paper’s style may lack the elegance of those receiving 10 points.
